Blooming Heart Earrings Jewelry Workshop in Albuquerque: A Natural Next Step
Our Blooming Heart Earrings jewelry workshop in Albuquerque brought students into Meltdown Studio for a hands-on day of sawing, soldering, forming, oxidation, polishing, and stone setting. Each student created a finished pair of sterling silver heart earrings with handmade roses, choosing either freshwater pearl or turquoise while learning traditional silversmithing and metalsmithing techniques.
Last weekend’s Blooming Heart Earrings class came together in the most natural way, like it had been waiting to happen.
It started with a simple question after our pendant class. Someone asked if the design could be made into earrings too. It felt like an easy yes, but also like something people genuinely wanted to explore in their own way.
When everyone arrived, there was already a sense of familiarity. The design was recognizable, but the approach felt different this time. Smaller scale, more attention to balance, and a focus on how each piece would move when worn.
The studio settled into a steady rhythm. Sawing, soldering, forming. Some worked slowly and methodically, checking each step. Others followed instinct and adjusted as they went. Both approaches found their way to something meaningful.
The handmade roses became a quiet highlight again. Each one formed by hand, each one slightly different. Some were tight and structured, others opened more softly. That variation gave every pair its own personality without changing the overall design.
When it came time to choose stones, the direction felt clear and intentional. Freshwater pearls brought a soft, subtle glow. Turquoise added a grounded, vivid contrast. Each choice shifted the feeling of the earrings in its own way.
There is always a moment in class where everything clicks. This time, it came somewhere between soldering and setting. The pieces stopped feeling like parts on a bench and started to feel complete.
By the end, every pair told a slightly different story. Delicate but not overly refined. Expressive without trying too hard. Pieces that could be worn every day or kept for something more personal.
People tried them on, held them up, and noticed the small differences. There was a quiet pride in the room, the kind that comes from making something with your own hands.
Everyone left with a finished pair of Blooming Heart Earrings, ready to wear, gift, or keep. And like always, the pieces carried more than just silver and stone. They held the time, the focus, and the small decisions that shaped them along the way.
What started as a simple question turned into something tangible. Something worn. Something remembered.
