Jewelry Making Class in Albuquerque: Hands-on Stamped Snake Ring
Our Stamped Snake Ring jewelry making class in Albuquerque brought students to Meltdown Studio on October 15 for an evening of hands-on silverwork and creative expression. Students learned forging, shaping, stamping, and texturing as they transformed sterling silver wire into distinctive snake rings, each with its own personality.
From the first taps of a hammer to the final details, students worked through each stage of the process, learning new techniques while making a piece that reflected their own style.
Shaping Silver Into Snakes
The class began with sterling silver wire, which students forged and shaped into the curved form of a snake. At the workbench, they carefully used hammers and metalworking tools to bring their designs to life, building the shape one step at a time.
Stamping and texturing added character to the silver. Each mark helped give the snake its own look, making the process just as personal as the finished ring. Students concentrated at their benches, worked carefully with their tools, and learned through each step.
Learning by Doing
Part of the fun was getting hands-on with the techniques behind the design. Students practiced forging, shaping, stamping, and texturing while developing the precision needed for silversmithing. They also worked through the finer details that helped turn a piece of silver into a wearable ring.
The project offered a playful introduction to metalwork for beginners and a chance for experienced students to refine their skills. Everyone had room to experiment, focus on the details, and make the design their own.
Every Snake Had Its Own Personality
One of the highlights was seeing the finished rings. Students proudly showed off their creations, with the snake designs wrapping around their fingers in distinctive ways. Some rings featured textured silver details, while others incorporated colorful stones that added contrast and personality.
The finished pieces were a reminder that handmade jewelry never has to look exactly alike. Each ring reflected the choices and careful work of the person who made it.
