"Make it at Meltdown" Turquoise Shield Ring

  • Meltdown Studio 901 Rio Grande Boulevard Northwest Suite E-130 Albuquerque, NM, 87104 United States (map)

A ring that protects and shines.

In this class, you’ll make the Turquoise Shield Ring—a bold, geometric sterling silver ring anchored by a vibrant turquoise cabochon and framed in radiant, dimensional detail. With its strong lines and stamped accents, this piece feels like both armor and adornment—something made to be seen and felt.

You'll design your own custom backplate, texture it with stampwork, solder raised embellishments, and learn how to set your stone securely in a hand-formed bezel. Every part of this ring is shaped with intention—from the shine of the silver to the strength of the structure.

This is a perfect project to explore bold design, stamping symmetry, and adding sculptural layers to your silversmithing practice.

No previous jewelry-making experience required, fun for all levels.

Techniques we’ll cover: stamping, shaping, layering, soldering, bezel-setting, oxidizing, polishing

Materials we’ll use: sterling silver, turquoise cabochon
