Silversmithing Class in Albuquerque: Private Prong Setting Experience at Meltdown Studio
Our Prong Setting jewelry class in Albuquerque brought two returning students into Meltdown Studio for a semi-private session focused on stone setting, soldering, and design exploration. Inspired by pieces they had seen and guided by our instructors, each student created a one-of-a-kind ring using Montana Agate while building hands-on silversmithing skills.
Some of the best moments in the studio are not planned. They simply happen naturally.
In yesterday’s Make It at Meltdown: Prong Party semi-private session, we had two students who originally met right here in the studio. After taking a class together, they connected, stayed in touch, and decided to come back, this time to create something more personal.
They booked a private session inspired by prong-set pieces they had been drawn to, bringing their own ideas and curiosity into the space.
That is something we always love to see. When students take what they have learned in our jewelry making classes in Albuquerque and turn it into something of their own.
It just so happened that Jim was also teaching in the studio that day, and he brought with him a selection of Montana Agate. The stones added another layer of inspiration, each one completely unique, each one guiding the design in its own way.
From there, the session unfolded naturally. Ideas shifted, designs evolved, and each piece became a reflection of both the process and the people creating it.
What started as a class became something more. A shared creative experience between two people who found connection through making.
That is a big part of what Make It at Meltdown is about.
