Turquoise Horizon Ring Jewelry Making Class in Albuquerque: A Bright Line of Turquoise
Our Turquoise Horizon Ring jewelry making class in Albuquerque brought students into Meltdown Studio for a hands-on evening of forming, soldering, bezel setting, and polishing. Each student created a finished sterling silver turquoise ring while learning traditional silversmithing and stone setting techniques.
Yesterday's class began with a simple setup at the bench. A strip of sterling silver, a turquoise stone waiting to be set, and a project that looked clean and uncomplicated at first glance.
One of the things we love about the Turquoise Horizon Ring is that it teaches so many techniques through a design that feels approachable. Students moved through each step carefully, measuring and shaping their ring bands before turning their attention to the bezel and the stone.
The photos from the evening captured so many of our favorite moments. There were hands busy at the bench, tools spread across work surfaces, silver taking shape, and turquoise slowly becoming the center of each piece. Some students worked quietly and methodically, while others compared progress and shared observations as they moved from one step to the next.
As the bezels were formed and the stones were finally set into place, the project started to come alive. The bright blue line of turquoise created a beautiful contrast against the silver. Even though everyone followed the same process, each ring developed its own personality.
The best moments always seem to happen near the end of class. Students began trying on their finished rings, holding up their hands to admire the results and compare the subtle differences in their designs. Those final photos at the bench told the whole story.
By the end of the evening, every student left with a finished Turquoise Horizon Ring that was simple, comfortable, and easy to wear. More importantly, they left with new skills and a better understanding of the process behind handmade jewelry.
