Jewelry Making Class in Albuquerque: Spinner Ring
Our Spinner Ring jewelry making class in Albuquerque last Friday brought students to the bench to learn texturing, stamping, dapping, soldering, oxidizing, and polishing. Each student created a finished sterling silver spinner ring while adding their own personal details.
The Spinner Ring is one of our all-time favorite projects, featuring a sterling silver band with smaller bands that spin around the main band. Its movement and personality make it a fun piece to wear every day.
Each participant began by working with sterling silver, copper, and brass, choosing combinations and details that suited their style. Some kept their rings bright and polished, while others added oxidized details to bring out the texture and stamped designs.
Learning by Doing
Throughout the day, students practiced each technique with step-by-step guidance and individual help. Working through the process themselves gave everyone a chance to get comfortable with the tools and see their rings take shape.
Although everyone started with the same project, each finished ring turned out a little different.
Making It Their Own
The finished pieces showed a mix of textures, stamped details, and finishes. Seeing the rings on students’ hands was one of our favorite parts of the day, especially watching the smaller bands spin around the finished rings.
